Mercy Opens Doors: Caring for the Elderly in Rural Nicaragua
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” — Matthew 5:7
For more than a year now, Seeds of Hope has had the privilege of consistently helping meet the needs of elderly individuals in rural Nicaragua. What began as providing practical care—food, assistance, and companionship—has grown into something that is impacting more than those we directly serve.
The ministry has also provided work for local people who help carry out this care, allowing the impact to reach other families in the community. Even more encouraging has been the testimony created through simply showing up, caring consistently, and serving people with dignity.
The Beatitudes remind us that Christ’s Kingdom is marked by mercy, humility, righteousness, and compassion. We do not care about making our names known. We want God to go first. Our prayer is that these acts of mercy continue creating space for conversations about God and opportunities to point people toward the hope found in Jesus Christ.
